I wasn't sure if this cot would really support a 50 year old who probably has more weight than desired, but it does! It's a comfortable night's sleep and is super easy to set up and take down. The mattress is separate and much thinner than I imagined. It doesn't fold up with the cot. A storage space will be needed for the mattress as well as the cots. I think the cot would sleep fine without the mattress, but it's nice to have, and it does come with it. I bought this for camping, but it's perfect for sleepovers or for taking on a trip. We use it for a little of everything. I would buy again for sure.
