Absolutely fabulous bed. I am particular about the overall material and build quality. Turns out this bed is 5 stars on all accounts!The build is sturdy. I'm middle-aged and would like a quality "end" bed which is just my way of saying no more bed purchases. Everything about the underpinnings is of solidity. The 13 slats are quality strong wood that require attaching to the side and center beams/frame with the provided brackets. The slats are secured and will not move once attached unless you deliberately unassemble. Legs are abound, there are 4 on the corners plus 6 more in the centers fixed to the belly of the frame. I'm 180 lbs and girlfriend is about 135 and I've not felt or heard anything that would suggest creaking, the impression is densely solid. Headboard is firmly attached to the frame. Upholstery feels strong and looks classy. I am very satisfied.I ordered the Amazon bed assembly. It was built while I worked from home one afternoon. Took about an hour so I was able to watch the process. I would estimate to have probably taken 2 to 3 hours if I assembled it myself so I find this assembly-fee money well spent. The handy man is very professional and has plenty of experience with putting together beds and other home furnishings. He used nothing but a power screw driver. And he highly recommends this bed and Amazon as well. Btw he insisted on helping me take out the remaining packaging to the garage. I gave him a tip. I don't know how these things work but we are both happy.I'd like to address some of the concerns from other shoppers. On this bed is a Tuft and Needle king size mattress at about 10 inches thick. While the top of the mattress is butted against the headboard, the lower end has about an inch and half to two inch opening reach to the foot board. The right and left sides of the centered mattress has about one inch of opening on each side. To me this is just fine even though gapless on all 4 or perhaps 2 sides may be desirable, but by tucking in the comforter or blanket as in the product display photos then the space is actually filled. I'd say roughly mattresses in the 9 to 12 inch thickness would work about the same. If you do combine a box spring (which is not needed or required) and mattress, just keep in mind that once the total height is over 12 inches, while perfectly functional, may give a look of abundance of mattress. That may or may not be a positive or negative, depending on your point of view.Overall a great bed at a terrific price. I came close to spending nearly two to three times on a bed at a national chain department store so I'm glad that I stopped by Amazon.
