I have the larger desk as well, and while that one I use at home, this is my portable version. It is very well made, easy to use, and it improves the feel of handwriting, while allowing me to use resources books at the same time. It is functional as a laptop stand as well, as long as your monitor doesn't sit up so high that it blocks your reading view.The wood is solid, evenly colored, and looks beautiful. It has four little rubber feet to keep it in place on a desk/tabletop, and also fits in a lap easily. As a lap desk, its weakness is how slick the bottom is. A little pad would be very useful for it.
