It's a good patio umbrella, but am slightly disappointed with the design and quality. I'd previously purchased a 10' umbrella from a different Amazon vendor, but barely after a month of purchasing it, I'd stupidly left it open one afternoon while at work, and a gust of wind caught it and lifted it up onto my roof and when it blew down, it snapped the main post above the crank. Ok, my fault. Lesson learned.I bought this 11' umbrella, different manufacturer for around twenty dollars less thinking I'd gotten a bargain. And in most aspects I did. However, compared to the previous one, the material of the covering seems, less than. Not as much of a thick canvas feel as the previous one, which doesn't instill a great sense of durability. I guess only time will tell in regards to that.The design however, I find lacking significantly. The switch for BOTH lights is tucked away on the end of one of the umbrella ribs out on the edge of the umbrella. WHY? Why should I have to trace each individual rib of the umbrella each time I want to turn on or off one, or both, of the lights? My previous umbrella only had the small lights along the ribs, but at least the switch was centrallly located just above the crank. Quick to find, Easy to use. Placing the light switch on the edge of the opened umbrella forces you to search for it, not ideal, especially when trying to close up the umbrella at night because of a sudden gusty wind or thunderstorm. Completely idiotic design choice. Plus I can't imagine running the wiring that extra length along the rib to the edge adds to the overall durability of the lighting either. The lights charge from a solar panel that screws onto the outside top of the central post. Wouldn't it make more sense to run the wiring straight down the center, main post to a switch instead of along the narrower, much longer ribs? That alone is a 2 star deduction in my book.If it were just one or the other of these issues I've noted, I could live with it, but not both combined. I'll use it until such time it begins to break down, but honestly, I'll be surprised if it makes it a few months at best. Next time when I'm looking for the next replacement, I won't be rebuying this version.
