This arrived in 3 boxes and my husband and I took about 4+ hours to assemble it as you have to screw a hundred+ bolts with a tiny little Allen wrench. Might have saved some time if I had allen bits for my drill. The bottom bed has wooden slats that sit about an inch off the ground, which I believe my grandsons would break when they jump around so much, so I took three 1"x3" boards and placed them under the slats lengthwise to support the slats and stop them from banging off of the wood floor. My 3 yr old and 5 yr old grandsons absolutely love this bed! (Although, it is too big for my 2 yr old boy/girl twin grandkids as they are too small to climb this and they are a little scared of it right now.) The two older boys beg to come to my house and as soon as they show up they run right into the bedroom to play on this. As you see in the photo, I waste my time making the beds because they throw the blankets and pillows all over the place immediately. They love to sit in the clubhouse on top, eat popcorn, and watch movies through the window. During sleepovers, they both end up sleeping on the bottom after playing on the top. I chose this model because it has the slide, (some versions of this bed do not have a slide) which they use a lot. The slide is very steep but only about 4 feet long so they can't really get hurt. With the larger mattress on the bottom, I feel safe knowing that if they fall off of the top (or jump), the will only land on the mattress below. But the base of the second level is less than 4' high anyway so it seems pretty safe. The room in the photo has an 8 foot ceiling so you can see there is plenty of room for the clubhouse height-wise. The quality of the materials is good and sturdy. the wood is finished with a plastic-like coating so it's very smooth and won't splinter. The color is good and although I've heard complaints about the smell, I only smelled it shortly after unpacking the parts (like any new item you unwrap). The small was gone within hours. Another complaint I read was that the full bed frame on bottom was too big for an American sized full mattress. There is about 3" extra all the way around my mattress, so I use that space to tuck the ends of a thick comforter in and it fills the space nicely. Otherwise, it might be a hazard if they are jumping around and one of their ankles get caught in there. So for, after about 10 days of playing on this non-stop, no injuries of any kind and these boys are pretty rough. Overall, highly recommended for smaller children (10 and under). Would probably be too small for pre-teens/teenagers, I believe. This bed is ridiculously cute and sturdy for children. The weight limit is way off. It says 250lbs, but I’m 140 and the support boards bent and creaked under my weight when I tested it out.I was appalled at the manufacturing. There are scratches and dings on many boards. The paint is incredibly thin. You can see all of the wood grain underneath. One hole on the ladder was not drilled out. The worst inconvenience was that none of the roof support boards are drilled. The roof boards themselves have drilled holes, but the board those attach to do not. Have fun doing a lot of math to calculate overhang and spacing of roof boards, creating spacers for consistency, and growing extra arms to hold the roof boards in place while you measure spacing, check level with neighboring roof boards (hope your floor is perfectly level), and pre-drill pilot holes for screws. By the way, don’t skip the pre-drilling. A board split upon the fastening of the first screw. The instructions didn’t say anything about drilling holes. Then do it all again as you tighten the screws down. If anyone’s interested, the math worked out to 5/8” spacing between roof boards and 15/16” overhang. The screws on the end roof boards hit other screws as they’re traveling through the wood so you get to find shorter screws for those boards. If I wanted to manufacture this bed myself, I would have saved around $500 and probably had a similar work input, with higher quality materials. Unacceptable. Made in Vietnam.Love this bed. I’ve used all three beds when the grandkids came over. All parts were there but no instructions. Instructions would have been nice.Good bed for my two year old, he loves it.This exact item is being sold by a handful of sellers, I received the bed of a few boxes. Two pieces of wood were cracked, and one nut was threadless. The seller sent me all the pieces right away to replace the broken pieces. Would buy from them againVery sturdy and gorgeous bunk bed that my two children absolutely adore. We added lights inside and plan on copying the window for the bottom to make it nicer. We added lights and another brands bunk bed "curtain" to make our kids less scared of the big openings on the top in the window/door areas. They love this bunk bed! We hired a handyman to build this for us and he was able to finish by himself in about 3 hours. Nice, solid bunk bed!
