Spyder Auto LED Tail Lights for Cars - Black/Clear Smoke Lens (ALT-YD-PGP97-LED-BK) - High Visibility Brake Lights for Night Driving & Enhanced Vehicle Style

I just received these today and installed this evening. Random thoughts, initially:- Agree with all who say these look good/great. The light effect and luminosity of the LED banks are a definite step up from OEM.- Agree with the one who said these are not gaudy or over the top in any way.- Installed both in minutes.- Seems like they may be vulnerable to water penetration. Hard to say though, as there is potting material visible in certain places. The original assemblies were subject to water penetration into the housing interior also, so no huge step back. Although, even though water could get into the OEM connector bulkhead area on the OEM units, the connectors had fairly decent seals. Same seal on back up bulb and side marker on this but the led connector is totally wide open to any water than gets into that area. I'm thinking of running a bead of RTV silicone across the top gaps to defend against water.- The bands on either side of the LED banks are silver, and not black as the picture on Amazon suggests. This was pointed out by others. The lens over them is smoked so that's probably why the web site pic makes them look black. They still look good, though. Shouldn't be a deal-breaker.- The lens over the back-up lamp developed a haze almost immediately. Not sure why. They were clear as crystal out of the box. Heat rising from the exhaust maybe? Not a big deal since these are off 98% of the time. Haze went away after engine was off for a while.- They fit well enough. I didn't notice any large gaps anywhere.Well see how they hold up.Purchssed these Spyder LED tail lights as replacements for the oem ones that had the typical problem of separating and cracking which then leads to water getting inside. The ones I purchased came from Amazon Warehouse Deals as a used set in excellent condition which saved me about $50 bucks! They came nicely packed and well protected. When I opened the box the lights looked like they were never opened or installed. Both were still sealed in the plastic wrapping. Install was a snap following the instructions however they don't fit 100% like the oem lamps did. Unless you look real close at the seams or where the trunk lid covers the tops of them you'll never see the gaps where they don't quite meet up with the body. They look cool both in the day time and at night plus they are so much brighter than the oem ones. I'm very satisfied with the purchase and would buy Spyder products again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the fit.If you're looking for an alternative to the leaky OEM tail lights that still look (almost) stock - these are a great bet. What I like most about these tail lights is they're not gaudy. So often you'll see vehicles with after market head light or tail light assemblies and they look absolutely horrible - these ones don't. In fact I'm sure most people don't know that they're not stock, they look like they've been there since the car was purchased new.One thing I should mention that I didn't realize when I purchased them (I guess I missed it in the description) is the only part that is LED is the break light. You'll still need to use bulbs for the turn signal and reverse lights (which you just swap out from the tail lights you're replacing).Installation was pretty easy, though they don't fit as nicely as stock. With a little wiggling you'll be able to get them in.Very impressed with bullet proof packing. These light were each in separate boxes with very thick Styrofoam packed around them. The lights fit well and when putting in the other light sockets they were tighter than the OEM meaning a better seal. I don't think these light are brighter than the OEM but if your lights were clouded because of age these are a definite safety improvement. They also make the car look like new.The big question is are he lights going to leak or fog up. I went to the manufactures website and they mentioned fogging up was normal and not a warranty issue. This doesn't make me feel that great. The left OEM never fogged but the right light started leaking water the last year.All and all car looks nice, lights much better than old dull OEM and price was very good for the product.10/6/2013 updateBeen thru a car wash and have washed car by hand twice. Light have not fogged up or leaked water here in humid Florida. Extremely happy with these lights. Excellent product for the money.I do like this product to some degree and the price was great but, I did not get what was pictured in the ad. The photo shows that the tail light interior frame is a matte black finish and the outer lens was to be smoked which is what I wanted. However, what I received was quite different. The interior frame was chrome and the outer lens was basically clear. Please note that the advertized item number that was advertized was the same as what I received. The product I received inside the box was not. The advertized photo is the problem, it is NOT accurate. Additionally, the item also did not correctly fit the original tail light hole locations which required me to re-drill the holes for both tail lights. Even though I did not get exactly what I ordered, I decided to keep them because they still work great and the LED lights really enhance the rear lighting when I use my brakes. LED lighting is the best. I'm not sure if it was a manufacturer or seller issue but, the way this item was advertized was the problem.I was worried about ordering at first because there weren't many reviews. But my worries are gone now. I purchased and installed these tail lights about 8 months ago and I am still happy. They are nice and bright compared to the factory lights. There is no water condensation in them thus far. My old lights held enough water for a fish to live in them. Lol it easily fit my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. The lights were well packaged with bubble wrap and all. When I drive around I see other grand am and grand prix driver's with their taillights full of water and their lights so dim at night its hard to see them. Obviously Pontiac had some water sealing issues but if you are one of those people, please buy these lights for others safety and for yours.This product is garbagelook good,but very expensive to fix gm's terrible leaky stock lightsThey look great but did not fit properly they are shorter in length than the originals.Great productLights fit perfectly and are super bright
