Overall I love these lights...Not sure what people were talking about when then posted about DIM lighting - these things are pretty intense - but they are upwards of around 6.5k or 7k color tone (on the bluish side) and while making your ride highly visible they don't project very far on the road - they fill the area between your car and where your factory headlights would hit the ground (or in my case my 6k HID lights)They are a great, uncommon, functional upgrade to existing fogs in the SEL MKVI Jetta or to add fogs to an SE MKVI Jetta.I really like the factory "honeycomb" look which is identical to the original filler plates these replace - nice touch, other fog lights are smooth around the light and don't look as nice IMO... I drilled out the spaces between to promote airflow to where my CIA is...FYI - Photos =1) Day shot installed2) Night Shot "Head On View" iJDMTOY Lights ON + Parking/City Lights 5500k color temp - camera f-stop offset to reduce glare3) Night Shot from Angle = iJDMTOY Lights ON + FULL HID Lights 6000k color temp - for nighttime drivingTips:Buy some 3M double-sided mounting tape (can also be found at your local home-care warehouse, ie; Home Depot / Lowes / Ace if you can't find it on here) and mount inside the bumper rail which is a "C" Rail to protect the module from water / rain / snow / moisture (if I can get a photo of this next time I service the air intake filter I will update my post) as it is NOT waterproofUnderstand that the control box is REQUIRED! Why?1) it senses the voltage difference between the car running or off (difference, when the alternator is running vs just the battery, is about 2vdc) and they automatically shut off when the car isn't running (even if the key is in the accessory or ignition position)2) it provides regulated voltage/current to the lights to prevent them from failing due to variations (like if you have a big sub/sound system and insufficient battery/alternator or capacitor to supplement the draw) - which should seriously extend the life of these lights3) What is the White Wire For? Hell if I could figure it out...I separately bought a Euro Switch with fog and parking options from ECS Tuning along with their relay kit (nothing like it available on amazon), which I cut the leads that would power the OEM type fogs and used just 1 of them to power the control box. This allows me to turn them on and off with the factory light controller (euro edition) and gave me use of my city-lights (which I upgraded to LED) with these lights. You CAN install these as running lights without the need to install the Euro Switch or add the fog relay but keep in mind they will always be on as long as the engine is running - or you could buy an "on-off" toggle switch to override or directly control them - keeping in mind that regardless if the car isn't running the lights won't come on...Note 1 -YOUR GROUND CONNECTION IS CRUCIAL - RUN IT BACK TO THE NEGATIVE ON THE BATTERY OR SCRAPE A FRAME SPOT TO THE BARE METAL AND USE NO-OX TO PREVENT RUSTING/OXIDATION!!! thought I had done it all right but the lights came on super dim or not at all and took me forever to figure out it was the ground not making a good connection which caused the issue.Note 2 -As mentioned earlier, these lights do NOT provide adequate light to drive with only them and your city-lights, if this is your intention - don't bother - instead, buy the factory style fog kit and buy a set of aftermarket projector LED lights from a reputable company like Opt7 (which you can buy on amazon)ENJOY!
