I bought this transformer to power low-voltage lights that are near my new spa. Per the 2014 NEC codes 680.22 (B)(6), you need a specific type of power supply / transformer if the lights will be within 10' of the water. It's the same transformer you would need to power an underwater light inside the pool or spa. NEC 680.23 (A)(2) spells out "Transformers for underwater luminaires shall be an isolated winding type with a grounded metal barrier between the primary and secondary windings, and shall be listed for the purpose." This transformer has all those features. There is a small note in the instructions that this transformer cannot be used with a dimmer. I will have a very low 15 watt load, and the dimmer will be on the downstream side of the transformer. I called Intermatic, and they said that using a dimmer was fine, and that note was probably a left-over from an earlier generation. You should call their tech support to check your situation. I appreciated that they HAVE knowledgeable tech support.I like the stainless steel construction of the box, with paint over that. No rust ever!
