Bought this model of the Truxedo Truxport (239801) for my 05 Chevy Colorado short bed (5 ft), choosing it over the higher end Tonneau covers for several reasons. The hard covers have some obvious disadvantages, I've personally noticed many of the tri-folds don't look as sleek as the soft covers and they don't allow full functional use of the truck bed when open. That being said this isn't the most secure bed cover, if someone owns a pocket knife they have all the tools one needs to break into it. Since I don't make a habit of parking on downtown alleyways I wasn't worried about that, anyway on to the review.Got the cover quickly, instructions were very clear and installation by myself took about 40 minutes. Some of the assembly was a bit frustrating, the clamps in particular but since you only install this thing once I can't really knock it for that. The vinyl appears very weather resistant, we've already had some snows on it and it hasn't been phased at all, but honestly it seems a bit thin for the advertised "heavy duty" description. It rolls up very well and is completely out of the way when you want to use the bed for large items. The look, as previously mentioned is very sleek when rolled out, I've noticed a tad slack in the material resulting in a little rippling while I'm driving, but I keep testing the rails for stability and they are tight as ever. The manual says to expect some slack in the cold (and I live in Colorado) and expect some degree of taughtness in the heat so I'm assuming that is the cause. The cover is remarkably weatherproof, not that I would really take it through a car wash or rain with damageable items in the bed, but if there was a random rainstorm (again, Colorado) I would feel completely confident in its ability to protect the bed.*Update for increase in fuel efficiency*: I've been driving now with this cover on all the time for about 2 months, and keeping a pretty close eye on the gas mileage. City wise this has a negligible effect on efficiency, I average about 16 mpg in the city and with this I was hitting 17 most of the time. Highway however I've really noticed a difference, I recently set my MPG record with my truck at about 24.5 mpg. So be wary driving conditions effect how this cover will help you.For the price this is a great buy, most hard covers run 500+ and other premium soft covers are typically much more than this one. If you've lost the use of your truck bed due to not wanting to leave items unattended this will solve that problem, personally it works great for me because now I no longer have to dump all my field gear in the cab of my truck when I'm done for the day, I can load it into the back and head home!
